Choosing the correct tyre for your bike is of critical importance. There is much more to it than getting the right size.
Many bikes come with very specific tyres that have been developed for that bike exclusively. When moving way from that specification you need to be very careful that the tyres you choose have been tested and approved for that bike. Just because a particular tyre suited your last bike or works well on a friends bike does not mean it will be good for your bike, even if your bikes are the same!
Rider’s weight, fitted accessories, pillion, riding styles and more can all have a massive effect on how a tyre will perform in many different conditions.
Always check with us or the manufacturer’s site if the tyre is approved for your bike.
Also do not assume that you a race replica type tyre for fast road work or track days. A good modern sports tyre like the Bridgestone BT-016 in the correct hands will be capable of lap times far lower than the vast majority of riders would ever want to attempt or be able to achieve.
If you are replacing the tyres for the first time on a new bike ask yourself if there was anything wrong with tyres that that are on it? If not why not stick with them?
